Very Noise hotel. The hotel knows it has these problems they put earplugs in the guest rooms. The restaurant at hotel has recently changed. The service was less then desirable. The Server dropped off food and said she would be back with coffee. Thing I know she is outside in front the of the restaurant with a member of the kitchen staff smoking. While I the paying customer was without my coffee refill. When she came back into the restaurant she did not even acknowledge that she forget about guest in the dinning her tip reflected her service. The elevators broke down every day during my stay. Only one has access to the exercise floor, the other one is extremely small. There is no way to go upstairs expect by elevator. Cannot use stairs to up because they keep them locked down and the lead directly out to street. The room it self appears was okay, you tell the fixtures and bed lining has recently been update.

Wonderfull hotel, excellent rates, clean and modern, first night was total bliss, second night, was just the opposite, in the same building, below the room we had on the second floor, was a "Night Club!!" the drumming noise went on till 2:15 AM!! sleep was impossibl! The hotel staff appologised profusely, and gave us a half night rebate on the room rate, we will stay there again, but will not take a room on the "Water Side", other than that, we had an excellent stay!

Booked this hotel for a mini-vacation. It is located right downtown and is walking distance to everything. We received a free upgrade to a one bedroom, two queen bedroom suite upon arrival. Comfortable bedding, very clean. Hotel staff were awesome. Check in was smooth as was check out. They offer a valet service for $ per day, which allowed you to take and return your vehicle whenever you wanted it! There is no pool, there is a fitness room. There is street noise being downtown. The resident seagulls are also noisy;but none of this is the hotel's doing. The only disappointing bit was that there was no continental breakfast available at this location; there is a De-Dutch Restaurant joined to the lobby which serves great food, but at your expense. I suggest roaming the area, lots of little restaurants and cafes serving great food! If you're looking for a reasonably priced central location at a nice, friendly, clean hotel, look no further!!

  • Would stay here again.

The hotel was conveniently located; could walk to almost eveything in the area. Room was clean and the size was fine, but the bathroom sink/counter was pretty small. Appreciated the extra towels without having to ask (most places give you 2 sets; we had 4 sets here). Bed was moderately hard; wish it was a pillow-top like some of the other BW's we've stayed at. The only hitch we had was when we checked in, we were asked to fill out a form which contained our vehicle information, even though we chose to street park instead of using their valet service (plenty of street parking, by the way) and at checkout, we were charged for valet parking, which was waived when we said we didn't use it (after the clerk mildly argued that we filled out "the form" for valet parking). That was kind of annoying. So if you're not going to use valet parking, don't fill out any other forms even if they ask you to. One more thing... the noise in this area is bad. Not the hotel's fault....just the area seagulls.

The Carlton Plaza Hotel is a medium size hotel with rooms that provide guests with comfortable and affordable accomodations. Some rooms have refridgerators and microwave ovens. The check-in and check-out procedures are user friendly and take very little time. Front desk personnel are very helpful in arranging tours and ferry reservations. A restaurant is on site and provides breakfast, lunch and dinner service. Breakfasts are not provided by the hotel. The hotel is centrally located in downtown Victoria within walking distance of the harbor, bus depot and all varieties of shopping, restaurants and entertainment. The Empress Hotel with its High Tea is a six block walk.
